Established by an ACT of Parliament in July 2010, The Gambia Investment & Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA) is the national agency responsible for the promoting and facilitating of private sector investments into The Gambia. 

In offering investor–facilitation services, the Agency acts as investors’ first point of contact provides information on relevant procedures for setting up a business and helps form the necessary network of contacts in The Gambia for successful business operations.

 GIEPA advises and collaborates with the Government of The Gambia, the private sector and civil society towards developing a globally competitive business environment. Key functions center on promoting the exportation of Gambian goods, developing and regulating The Gambia’s only business park, formulating investment promotion, export and enterprise development strategies, employment creation and wealth generation through private sector led growth as enshrined in the Vision 2020 as well as the Program for Accelerated Growth and Employment.

Our Services

GIEPA offers an array of services and key tasks toward confirming private sector growth in The Gambia.

Investment Generation

  • Administer and advise on incentive packages;
  • Provide information on investment opportunities in The Gambia; and
  • Support companies planning to expand or diversify operations.

Investment Facilitation

  • Provide all business-related information to potential and current investors;
  • Work with stakeholders to facilitate investments;
  • Help identify joint venture partners;
  • Render professional advice for project proposals;
  • Serve as the link between investors and national authorities affecting
  • business operations; and
  • Help businesses obtain licenses, land, clearances, etc. for business operations.

Business Development Services

  • Provide support for research and development;
  • Market survey and research support  

Export Development 

  • Provide advisory services and training to potential and current exporters;
  • Undertake export market research; and
  • Assist in developing a marketing campaign in foreign markets.
  • Support businesses to be export ready status

Support to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)

  • Support for research and development
  • Income tax deposit waiver
  • Matching grants facility (depending on the availability of funds)
  • Market survey and research support 

Image Building & Branding

  • Coordinate national marketing efforts; and
  • Organize public relations events.

Policy Advocacy

  • Serve as an interface between the private and public sector; and
  • Support initiatives to improve the quality of the investment climate and identify views of the private sector. Business Registration
  • Businesses in The Gambia may be registered as a company, a sole proprietorship, a partnership, or other forms of businesses (namely co-operatives, subsidiaries of other companies).
