The Netcare 911 fixed wing air ambulance service operates primarily throughout Africa and surrounding islands. Our dedicated, permanently configured, ICU equipped air ambulances cater for both short and long range flights. All aircraft are fully equipped as mobile intensive care units, utilising only the latest in technology to ensure highly effective patient care.
Netcare 911’s air ambulances are staffed by emergency medicine trained doctors, nurses and paramedics and are able to mobilise within 90 minutes from flight authorization. All aeromedical missions are conducted with two pilots who are accredited by the South African Civil Aviation Authority. These highly experienced pilots are ultimately responsible for ensuring the safety of patients and crew during an evacuation. Every aeromedical mission is managed on its merits, with meticulous scrutiny and medical oversight. In addition to this, quality assurance is conducted by objective and independent external consultants in emergency medicine.
Netcare 911 was awarded the 2010 Air Ambulance Provider of the Year by the International Travel Insurance Journal (ITIJ).

Commercial Medical Transfers
The Netcare 911 Aeromedical division offers commercial repatriations of patients to and from their country of origin. Commercial transfers are undertaken using commercial airlines to assist in transporting and evacuating patients to and from their country of origin once their medical condition has been stabilised. Qualified doctors, nurses and paramedics assist seated patient transportation in business as well as economy class depending on patient requirements. The patient is collected from the referring medical facility and transported to his or her final destination in one of our dedicated road ambulances or via helicopter service.
